Food Photography, Thai Cottage Restaurant

My friend owns a Thai restaurant called Thai Cottage in the Outter Sunset area, and recently they revamped their website and needed new photos. Although I never had professional experience shooting food they asked me to shoot a few of their dishes for them, so without hesitation I kindly agreed. It was a really good learning experience, and now I have a new found appreciation for food photography. One must have a lot of patience and be extremely meticulous about details. Lighting and place settings are set up prior the final dish arrives in front of the camera, and once the final dish is plated the window of opportunity to get the perfect shot starts to close. Plated foods look their best during the first few minutes on dish before the leafy greens begin to wilt or the sauces start to fall apart. We spent almost the whole day shooting about 12 plates and here are a few photos to share with everyone.

If you get a chance please drop by Thai Cottage to try out some of their amazing dishes or visit their website at www.thaicottage-sf.com (website designed by I Wuen Wang)
